Recent Grid Door Projects

No two of these are the same. The spacing, the number of panes and the finish are decided for the room they go in. Here is a range of what that has looked like.

Matte black grid shower enclosure in a grey stone bathroom
Matte black flat bar applied to a full-height enclosure, with the grid carried across the door and both fixed panels so the lines run unbroken corner to corner.
Brushed bronze grid shower door against marble tile
The same construction in brushed bronze against marble. A warmer, more transitional read than black, and proof the look is not only industrial.
Classic black grid shower door over white subway tile
A classic steel-inspired grid over white subway tile. Tighter spacing and a taller pane count give this one a heritage feel rather than a modern one.
Full-height matte black grid shower enclosure seen from the room
The same enclosure from the room. The three glass panels create the sight lines to break up the horizontal grids.
Pair of interior office doors with applied black architectural grids
The same flat bar on a pair of interior doors. Grid glass is not only for showers, and the detail carries into the rest of the house.
Four panel matte black sliding glass wall with architectural grids
A four-panel sliding wall in matte black, closing off a room without closing off the light. This one in particular is a synchronized system for a gym room.

Grid lines can be applied to almost anything we build, including sliding doors and steam enclosures. If you have seen a look you like, send us the photo.

Grid shower doors blend the clean look of frameless glass with bold, architectural detail. Featuring either printed ink grid lines or applied metal grids, these doors create a striking, modern statement while maintaining an open, airy feel.

Once considered a niche style, grid shower doors have become increasingly popular in both modern and transitional bathrooms. At ShowerDoorKing, we offer fully custom grid layouts, allowing you to choose the spacing, pattern, finish, and overall design to perfectly complement your space.

Whether you are aiming for an industrial edge, a classic steel-inspired look, or a subtle design accent, grid shower doors offer a unique way to elevate your bathroom without sacrificing the sleek benefits of frameless glass.

Your choices

Three choices shape your door

We walk you through all of them at the measure and quoting stage.

Glass

Clear, low iron, textured, tinted, or treated with a protective coating that keeps it from spotting. Low iron is worth a look here, since the grid reads sharper against glass with no green edge.

Hardware finish

Architectural Grids are available in Matte Black, Brushed Bronze, and Satin Brass. On a grid door the hinges and handles are matched to the grid itself, so the whole frame reads as one piece.

Grid layout

Every grid is drawn from scratch for your opening. The spacing, the number of panes and whether the lines carry across fixed panels are all decided with you, so the pattern suits the room rather than a standard size.

The process

How It Works

Quote and field measure

Send us your photos or plans. We will send you a quote and schedule a field measurement appointment.

Shop drawing and approval

We will send you your final design, with any optional upgrades, for approval.

Fabrication and installation

Once approved, your glass goes straight into production. Once it has passed quality inspection, we schedule the install.

Warranty

Backed for the life of the hardware

Every project carries a limited lifetime warranty on hardware and a two year warranty on all service. If a door needs adjusting, or something does not feel quite right, we come back and service it free of charge for two years after installation.

Questions

Common questions

How much does a grid shower door cost?

Grid shower doors cost more than a standard frameless shower door. How much more depends on the complexity of the grid, the size of the opening and the layout you choose, so we do not publish a range for them the way we do for frameless doors. A full grid across a large enclosure is a different job from a few lines on a single panel. Send us photos or plans and we will give you a firm number.

What is the difference between applied grids and printed grids?

An applied grid is anodized aluminum flat bar bonded to the surface of the glass, on one side or both, so you can feel the lines and they catch the light. A printed grid is digitally printed onto the glass, so the surface stays perfectly smooth. Applied bar gives depth and dimension. Printed is the easiest to wipe down.

What finishes can the grid be?

Matte Black, Brushed Bronze, and Satin Brass. The grid and the hardware are matched so the enclosure reads as one piece.

Can I choose the grid pattern?

Yes. Every grid is drawn for your opening. You choose the spacing, the number of panes, and whether the lines carry across the fixed panels or only the door. We work the pattern out with you on the shop drawing before anything is built.

Will a grid door make my bathroom feel smaller?

Less than people expect. The glass stays clear and the lines are slim, so you keep the open feel of a frameless enclosure with the detail added on top. Wider spacing keeps it airy. Tighter spacing gives the heritage look in exchange for a little of that openness.

How long does it take?

Grid doors take longer than a standard frameless door because the grid is fabricated and applied after the glass is made. We give you a lead time with your quote, once the layout is settled.
